Celebs Think Pink!
Each year, over 200,000 American woman are diagnosed with breast cancer. October has been designated national Breast Cancer Awareness month and people are encouraged to show their support by wearing something pink. The disease is so prevalent that most of us know a friend or relative who has suffered from breast cancer. In the past decade concerted efforts have been made to encourage knowledge of the disease and prevention taking measures. Of these, celebrity spokespeople are perhaps the most compelling. They are public proof that breast cancer is a universal concern, as it can strike the rich and poor alike.
Breast cancer is an equal opportunity ailment, and many female celebrities have taken a stand after experiencing it themselves. Melissa Ethridge brought her personal struggle into the public eye not only as a way to bring awareness to the disease, but to show women afflicted by the disease that they are not alone in their fight. Profits will go to the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, which is one of many organizations dedicated to finding a cure and supporting victims.
