I am the same Anne that posted on 7/26/09. Emitations response to my review begins, "This item is indeed made from .925 sterling silver, which most people can wear without any problems. The ".925" in sterling silver jewelry indicates that 92.5% of the metal is sterling silver, and the remaining 7.5% are alloy metals that may vary from product to product."
If one clicks on the ".925 sterling silver jewelry" link under item specs for these earrings the description is quite different. It reads, "925 Sterling Silver is an alloy that's 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper."
I ordered these earrings because, after reading the .925 sterling silver description provided under item specs, I believed that the earrings were an alloy of just silver and copper, not silver, copper, and other metals. I wear .925 silver that is alloyed with copper all the time and have no problems. I cannot wear jewelry with nickel in it as I have an allergy. I am careful about the jewelry I purchase for this reason. After my experince from wearing these, I am fairly certain they contain nickel. If the sterling silver jewelry sold by emitations contains other metals, in addition to silver and copper, then the description provided via the .925 sterling silver jewelry link needs to be changed. As it stands, it is inaccurate and misleading.

We spoke to our supplier, and they confirmed that these earrings are a nickel free item. We have asked every one of our suppliers if their products are nickel free, and we will update every item once we have compiled all of the responses. We also changed the details that show when you click on ".925 sterling silver" so it would be more accurate. This customer was contacted and offered a return or exchange.

Silver must be alloyed with other, stronger metals because it is actually quite soft and not generally strong enough to form lasting jewelry items.
If you experience any sort of rash or irritation from a sterling silver item, you may want to purchase only nickel free jewelry in the future. This customer may prefer to buy only white gold and/or nickel free items in the future, but they are eligible for a free return/exchange of these earrings.
