Weddings in 2007 and Beyond | | Weddings may stem from the ancient tradition of uniting two into one but wedding trends come and go much like clothes and accessories of the fashion world. (Just think of the poofy sleeves, peach bridesmaid dresses with matching shoes and big hair of the 80s!) Here are some bridal trends to look out for this coming wedding season:
Dress and Accessories
Look for more detail like lace, pearls and short cap sleeves on bridal gowns. As the red carpet has more influence on fashion these days so it does for white dresses. Expect more glamorous details like beading, rhinestones and metallic threading. Because the guests look at the back of the bride and groom for most of the ceremony, it makes sense that many brides are choosing gowns with deep Vs and back embellishments. Hair accessories such as Emitations Aisha's Floral Barrette (similar to that of Sienna Miller) look elegant in the back of an updo hairstyle.
Memorable Colors
Jewel tones have made a huge comeback this year in dresses, hand bags and jewelry as it well in weddings. Pastel colors are traditional and chocolate brown and light blue were big the last few years but bright jewel tones such as ruby red, royal purple, tangerine and marigold will now take the stage. From bridesmaid dresses to jewelry boutonnieres and centerpieces, bright hues are the way to go.
A Green Wedding
As the world becomes more environmentally conscious so do weddings. Couples are opting to use invitations made with recycled paper, buy vintage dresses and serve organic produce and more vegetarian options at their weddings. Many couples are asking for the gift of a donation to a charitable organization over toaster ovens and linens.
Location, Location, Location
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes married in Italy and Eva Longoria and Tony Parker will wed in Paris. Now more than ever, couples are choosing to have destination weddings around the globe. If they dont leave home then brides and grooms are looking at more non-traditional places to share their vows such zoos, aquariums, parks and concert halls.
Always in Style
Though every year brings new trends to weddings, there is one accessory that will always be in stylepearls! From necklaces to earrings, pearls are a gift from the ocean that will eternally be a part of wedding tradition.
